McLaren Vale has a Mediterranean climate of warm sunny days and cooling sea breezes which
contribute to the fresh, ripe, intense fruit flavours and distinct characteristics that the regions wines are renowned for. Grapes were first planted in the region in 1838 and some vines more than 100 years old are still producing. Some of Australia most legendary Shiraz, such as Penfolds Grange and Eileen Hardy Shiraz, is made from grapes grown in the Vale. Other major varieties in the region include Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. At Lavina Wines, we believe in the perfection of fruit as the cornerstone of good wine. The fruit is then crushed and vinified using the state-of-the-art Vaucher Beguet Mistral grape-sorter. All wines are open fermented, hand plunged and basket pressed straight to oak.
